AVOW - Chelsea Fine - Archers of Avalon

Avow (The Archers of Avalon, #3)Avow by Chelsea Fine

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I absolutely love this series!  I really liked this book because you get to go into all of Scarlet's past lives!  You also see the sweet and adorable side of Tristan that you swoon over!  AND you get even more Heather, Gabriel, and Nathan... I LOVED Nate in this book!  I was laughing out loud in most of his scenes!  Heather is hilarious too and you can't help but love her!  The ending was absolutely perfect and beautiful and everything I could've hoped for not all books have happily ever afters anymore but this one was pretty darn perfect!!!  I can't wait to see what Chelsea Fine writes next!

Covet - Melissa Darnell

This is from the Clann series, the first book is Covet and the third will be called Consume!

Covet (The Clann, #2)Covet by Melissa Darnell

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Okay I really loved Crave and was so excited to hear it was going to be made into a saga.  The sequel in a saga tends to fall short but that was not the case here.  I read this in about 48 hours and was so excited with all that was going on in the book!  Savannah moves in with her dad, learns about her bloodlust, and has to break up with Tristan!  There's not a lot of romance in this one but there is a lot of mystery and action to make up for it!

I really liked learning more about Anne and Ron, we also had more of the Brat Twins and Dylan Williams who are great villains and Melissa Darnell added a couple extra villains to keep things interesting!

The cliffhanger is HUGE in this one and I didn't see it coming at all, not even at the end when it happened!  I am so excited to see book three in this series and find out what happens with Savannah and Tristan!  Yay!  Excellent solid 4 stars!  Great series!

Finale - Becca Fitzpatrick - Hush Hush Series

Finale (Hush, Hush, #4)Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So I will start by saying I read each of the other books in a day and am a HUGE fan. I have been to book signings for Becca Fitzpatrick and I absolutely love Patch and Nora, Vee, Scott, Marcie, etc. I must have had way too high of expectations!!! This book was not nearly as good as the first three and I really pushed myself to continue (took me almost a month!). Around 50% through the book it improved and the last half went by rather quickly. I did enjoy seeing my favorite characters back and a few villains, surprises, and plot twists.

I am glad that the series is over and Path and Nora got their ending. I feel Nora really grew up through the books and her character was pretty wicked in this one! I missed Vee a lot in this book and other parts were lacking. The book did come to a complete full circle ending with no questions remaining about any of the characters or their futures.

The Between Boyfriends Book - Cindy Chupack

So I haven't read much lately I was going through a divorce so I have started to read single's books and women empowerment stuff!  Here's my new favorite!:

The Between Boyfriends Book: A Collection of Cautiously Hopeful EssaysThe Between Boyfriends Book: A Collection of Cautiously Hopeful Essays by Cindy Chupack

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I bought this book after my divorce as kind of a pick me up if you will.  It isn't the book that is going to change your life but it will make you laugh and feel better about yourself and your situation.  There were many laugh out loud moments and times where I could really relate to the author.  There were also things I didn't relate to and found just "ok" some of the book is filler and somewhat boring but I believe the good parts make up for the bad.  I recommend this to any single woman who is kind of down about her situation to make her laugh and feel better!

Whispers at Moonrise - CC Hunter

Whispers at Moonrise (Shadow Falls, #4)Whispers at Moonrise by C.C. Hunter

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book would probably compete with the first one for my favorite!  I loved it!  There were lots of twists and excitement.  Someone close to Kylie is going to be murdered and she has to figure out who to try to save them!  Kylie finds out a lot more information about what she is and let me tell you it's amazing and unique!  Her new abilities will amaze you!  Amazing addition and I am eagerly waiting the next book coming out April 2013!

The love triangle gets completely complicated and you'll find yourself going back and forth between Lucas and Derek.  This book adds a bit of a thriller to the series.  I was amazed and fell even more in love with the series!

Fall Guy - Liz Reinhardt

Who would want the responsibility of being the fall guy?  The guy who cleans up everyone's messes?

Fall GuyFall Guy by Liz Reinhardt

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So I read this book with high expectations and it was good.  It wasn't my favorite can't put down type of book but it was still a solid book.  There were a lot of issues and drama in the book.  I felt that they over complicated their relationship from the get go.  The beginning held the most promise but the drama of the relationship between Winch and Evan just made the book heavy.

Just an FYI there is some explicit language and sex scenes in this book, not for the younger adults.

Ceaseless - Abbi Glines - Existence Trilogy

Ceaseless (Existence Trilogy, #3)Ceaseless by Abbi Glines

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Pagan is back with no memories of Dank, Leif, Gee, or most of her senior year of high school.  Her soul's mate from book two, Jay is to make an attempt at her heart and Dank will as well and who she chooses will be what decides if she will regain her old memories or not.  Dank is the ultimate swoon worthy guy.  He takes such good care of Pagan and I think every girl wants a little Death in her life.

Jay is kind of a jerk right off so you don't really feel that spark or connection with him and Pagan is very matter of fact and I like that about her personality.  Who will she choose and will she regain her memories?

Words to the wise, this book has much more profanity than the others and a lot of sex.  Not just Pagan but all the characters and they talk about it a lot too.  It's not for the younger readers.

The book is a page turner and if you are a fan of the series you wont be able to put it down.  I read it in a single sitting with doesn't happen often.

So I love Abbi Glines work and was going to dock this one point due to the spelling errors in the beginning.  I read the few pages about the author and such at the end and she noted that she didn't have the book finished and ready for publication but a week til it's release.  The errors bothered me but after reading the book in it's entirety I decided not to dock it anything.

Grave Mercy - His Fair Assassin - Robin LaFevers

Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1)Grave Mercy by R.L. LaFevers

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is 565 pages!  With that much book typically there's a lot of fluff and filler, I did get somewhat bored around 40% into the book and skimmed a bit but not too much, the beginning and the last half of this book are remarkable.  There's not a lot of filler, it's all scenery, action, descriptions, narrative, etc.  There's a lot going on.

The book is about Ismae who is one of death's daughters and goes to a convent of assassin nuns after an unfortunate arranged marriage.  She is trained in the arts of death and poisons as well as seduction and current events.  She goes on missions to kill people and ultimately gets an undercover job for the duchess.  Her love interest is Gavriel Duval (this book isn't a romance) and he's quite charming.

This is a historical book and I like most timepieces.  This one didn't disappoint there was a lot going on and the plot was unique and original, very refreshing.  I do look forward to reading the next one which is about Sybella and I hope the injured knight in need is Beast.

Pushing the Limits - Katie McGarry

WOW... amazing read.  This book had amazing reviews which is why I downloaded it and I must say it did not disappoint.

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book draws you in immediately and grips you with a story of a girl and boy with real problems.  I laughed, I cried, I connected.  I can't say a book has done that to me in a long time.

Echo Emerson is the leading lady who used to be popular and has an incident that left her with scars all over her body and she can't even remember what happened.  Noah is the boy who used to be popular until his parents died and he was left a warden of the state as well as his two younger brothers.

This book touches on the heart and brings a sense of realism to the characters.  I felt so much for Echo and Noah in their own ways.  I fell in love with this story and was so sad to see it end it was one of those books that you can't put down.  I'm glad that the author decided to write other books on the characters in this one.  I can't wait to read Beth's story.

Fifty Shades Freed - EL James

An end to the story...

Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3)Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

My rating is right down the middle, it wasn't my favorite or least favorite book.  The special at the end after the book of Christian's POV was probably the best part.

This book takes place right where book 2 leaves off.  This book has lots of glimpsing in time.  There's way less of the kinky stuff in this book.  So if you are looking for that, you wont find it here.  EL James has written mostly a conversational book about Anastasia it includes a lot of action and suspense with Jack Hyde and his revenge.  You see Christian's past as a child as well as learn more about Mrs. Robinson.  There's also an epilogue on Anastasia's life.

It's a perfect ending to the trilogy and you wont be left wondering what happened to Anastasia.

Sweet Evil - Wendy Higgins

Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1)Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amazing Amazing Amazing!!!

Okay so I was hesitant to start this until I saw all the great reviews.  I will admit it turned into an immediate guilty pleasure!  This book was incredible and entertaining and so different from any other angel/demon series I've read!  There's a completely new spin on all the other books so this one stands alone with it's creativity and uniqueness.

The story is about Anna who has always felt out of place because she strange things happen to her, like seeing people's auras, etc.  She's religious and living with her adopted mother.  She's a complete good girl in every way.  You will automatically love this character and her kindness.

Her friends are wonderful, Jay (you'll instantly like), Veronica, Marna, Kope, etc...

There's also the love interest Kai who is definitely the bad boy you'll be rooting for.

The book is about Anna figuring out who she is and what she's meant to do in life!

I have to admit I cannot wait for the rest of the books to come out, I'm so intrigued by this story that I'm going to be impatiently waiting for the second book!

The Selection - Kiera Cass

I hate hate hate writing negative reviews but this was a 2 star book for me:

The Selection (The Selection, #1)The Selection by Kiera Cass

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

So I hate that I read some reviews before reading the book.  Most are really negative which put me in more of a judgmental state or noticing things I normally wouldn't have in the book.  Someone noted that the castes in the bottom level were homeless then a few paragraphs later it talks about some of them having TVs... something I would've overlooked had I not read the review.

Everyone said this is the Bachelor meets the Hunger Games.  I do see that.  The book is like an entire season of the Bachelor only it ends without the final girl getting her rose.  So on a cliffhanger.  This book easily could've been one instead of a series.  The Hunger Games aspect would be Gavril = Cesar, the selection = the games, the castes were similar to the tributes homes/numbers.

I liked the scenario and the cover and the book had amazing premise.  I really wanted to love the book.  I found myself having a hard time liking any of the characters or feeling any connection to them.  America, Aspen, Maxon, and Marlee were all dull to me.  Even the protagonist Celeste.  There was no depth to any character except for May.  Most had silly names and I felt that this shouldn't have been a dystopian it could've easily been just a book based in the past.  The dystopian didn't fit well and neither did the few rebel attacks.

I'm so torn on this, I hate giving negative reviews and feel I will read the next one just to see who gets selected and what America chooses.  I'm just glad to be done with this book.

ONYX - Jennifer Armentrout - Obisdian Lux Series

Onyx (Lux, #2)Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

THIS BOOK WILL KEEP YOU UP ALL NIGHT!!!  IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT DOWN!!!

So I LOVED Obsidian and couldn't wait for the release of Onyx.  The chemistry between Katy and Daemon is one of my favorites of all time.  This book was the first in awhile that I literally couldn't put down, bought it around 10 PM and stayed up reading the first 19 chapters... Then finished it the following morning.

SO... the great things about this book include: It started off right where the last one ended.  Katy and Daemon still have amazing chemistry and there are so many secrets revealed.  Also, Daemon was completely swoon worthy.  There were some really touching moments, laugh out loud moments, the author included cameos of sorts with other books that I love, and there were some heart wrenching sad moments.

Katy is one of my favorite heroines because she's like most of us bookworms, normal and fun, spunky, and her attitude is completely addictive.  But living in this surreal world with Daemon, Dee, and the other Luxen.

When you finish this book you'll crave the next one.  I hate how long they make us wait!  This book is a complete success.  The entire book is a page turner and there's not one dull moment.  AMAZING, LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!!!  Best book I've read in months!

Before I Wake - Rachel Vincent - Soul Screamers

This book was AMAZING!

Before I Wake (Soul Screamers, #6)Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay so Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamers series is one of my favorites.  This book didn't disappoint at all.  I kept thinking 4 stars throughout the book then when the end hit and I went to turn the page and it was just over... 5 Stars.  The ending is dramatic, shocking, and will leave your jaw dropped!!!  I cannot wait for the next installment.

Rachel Vincent sure knows how to right an amazing story.  I didn't know how she'd continue the books with Kaylee dying in the end of the previous book but once again I'm in shock and awe and just wow.

This story has Kaylee working with Luca (the guy from the short story with Sophie) for the reclamation department.  She is to receive stolen souls and return them.  Of course Avari is the villain again and threatening everyone that Kaylee loves.  The Hudson boys are back and the romance is steamier than ever and the drama is delicious.

Read this book if you are a fan of the series!!!

Rapture - Lauren Kate

Ugh... biggest letdown of my anticipated reads for 2012.

Rapture (Fallen, #4)Rapture by Lauren Kate

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I have been the biggest Lauren Kate Fallen series from the beginning.  I fell in love with the books and read each one in a day.  This book, however; took me almost a month to read.  It had good parts but I honestly just skimmed through close to half the book.  It was not that good at all.  The only parts that were really incredible were when they searched for the relics, when Luce's mystery is revealed, and of course the ending.

I wanted to up it to 3 stars for the ending alone but honestly, the rest of the book just was not addictive or thrilling like the rest in the series.  Book 3 was my complete favorite and I wasn't sure if she could write a book that would even compare to it or any of the others in the series but I was disappointed in this one as well as the Valentine's book.

I'm sad to say goodbye to Lucinda and Daniel.  The ending did feel complete and I'm happy with it.

Awry - Chelsea Fine Archers of Avalon Book 2

So this was definitely one of my most anticipated reads for the year!!!

Here's the review, did it disappoint or not???

Awry (The Archers of Avalon, #2)Awry by Chelsea Fine

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After the explosive ending in book 1 I wasn't sure Chelsea Fine could even create another book as well written.  This came pretty close.  I loved the back story we got to hear about Scarlet, Tristan, Raven, and Gabe.  Hearing about Scarlet's original family and past was my favorite part by far.  The rest of the story in actual time seemed to be quite a bit fluff.

There were definitely some laugh out loud moments with Scarlet.  Oh and got to love Nate's attire and Heather's "text" talk!  There was a lot of mystery in this book as well and that was pretty fun!

I'd say overall this book was a really good sequel because sequels are what tend to make or break a series.  This one is a definite keeper and one I'd recommend to friends!  :)  Awesome job on another book!

City of Lost Souls - Cassandra Clare book 5

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments, #5)City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So I agree with some of the other reviews, the first half of this book is very dull.  There isn't much going on and it was hard for me to get through.  The second half makes up for the first and is much more exciting.  Cassandra Clare finishes the book in her style which will have readers craving more and forgiving the first half of the book.

This book is about Clary and the others trying to help sever the bond between Jace and Sebastian.  It was well written and long.  The writing style is good but there are MANY points of views in this story.  You will see Alec, Simon, Isabelle, Maia, Jordan, Clary, Jace, Sebastian, and any other character in the book's point of view.  Which can make the book hard to follow at times.

I give it 3 stars and will read the next.

Last Rite - Lisa DesRochers

Last Rite (Personal Demons, #3)Last Rite by Lisa Desrochers

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I wanted to love this book.

Frannie, Luc, and Gabe are on the run to hide from Lucifer while Frannie works on her sway. A lot of the emotional parts and connections between Frannie/Luc, and Frannie/Gabe seem to be missing. You don't really see Frannie's family or friends in this book. There's a new character named Faith that's pretty sweet and we also have Rhen and Marc back.

Gabe is losing himself to Frannie while Luc is trying to get Frannie to turn him back into a demon so he can help defeat Lucifer. This is what's going on during most of the storyline. Lucifer in the meantime is trying to locate them using his Mage.

I didn't care for the ending at all. I thought, really, that's it? Lisa DesRochers could easily add another book to the series on what happens next. Now for my thoughts on this book:

So this was one of my most anticipated reads for the year and I can't help but say I waited to review it because I wanted to think about how I felt and review it with a clear mind. I agree with another reviewer who said that the book felt rushed. I personally didn't feel any attachment to the characters like I did in the first two books, the things I fell in love with weren't there. I skimmed over pages instead of reading them because I wasn't emotionally invested in the characters. I just felt in comparison to the other two books in the series this one was disappointing.

PREDESTINED - ABBI GLINES

Predestined (Existence Trilogy, #2)Predestined by Abbi Glines

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So I had been waiting for this book FOREVER!  The book flows quickly and you can easily read it in a short period of time.  I love this about Abbi Glines writing style.  Her flow is amazing and her characters are catchy.

I fell in love with Dank in Existence.  In this book he wasn't as impressive to me.  I found parts of him kind of annoying, he spent little to zero time with Pagan.  At one point he was extremely rude to another guy.  I just didn't swoon over Dank the way I did in book 1.

Leif...  Well the author made me really like Leif.  He was sweet and selfless even though she wrote that he was a coward and selfish.  I didn't see that at all.  In all of Pagan's memories of Leif he was extremely generous and kind.

Gee, Miranda, and Pagan really made this book for me.  They were ultimately my favorite characters in Predestined.

So with that said, I was really confused and torn.  The only logical answer is to wait for the third book and see how everything pans out.  Also excited to see Leif's story.  :)

Black Dawn - Rachel Caine

Black Dawn (The Morganville Vampires, #12)Black Dawn by Rachel Caine

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not my favorite MV book.

So this book was okay.  I liked some of the characters point of views such as those who are from the Glass House, the characters we've come to know and love from this series such as Claire, Michael, Eve, and Shane.  The point of view changes with each chapter and makes it harder to follow.  Some characters point of view I didn't feel were necessary and some chapters were maybe 1-3 pages just some added fluff in my opinion.

I also really missed the Glass House, the lab, the portals, Frank Collins, Amelie, all of the things that really built this series up for me.  Claire isn't in school, they are fighting off the draug, and everyone is holed up together.  Parts seemed slow and the book didn't hold my attention as well as others in the series.

I believe Rachel Caine is an amazing author and I did enjoy the ending and feel the next book will be much better and more exciting.  This one just seemed to tie up all the loose endings from the previous book.  The end offers an exciting lead to many new possibilities.

There are casualties in this book, more than usual.  There wasn't very much romance, more tension than anything among characters and couples.  I am glad the draug is over I didn't find the concept that interesting in comparison to other problems among Morganville and it's residents in previous books.  I look forward to seeing what's next for everyone but this isn't a book I'll reread.

Currently Reading...

I'm just wanting to give a shout out to the books I'm reading and have on my immediate to read list as I haven't been online much due to my divorce.

Currently reading: Black Dawn by Rachel Caine
To Read:
Last Rite - Lisa DesRochers
Predestined - Abbi Glines
City of Lost Souls - Cassandra Clare

I should have reviews of all of these books within the next 10-14 days.  (Hopefully sooner)... :)

Fifty Shades Darker - E L James

Fifty Shades Darker (Fifty Shades, #2)Fifty Shades Darker by E.L. James

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was shocked when reading the first book at how explicit it was, this book is much more toned down.  There's still some of the detailed sex scenes such as from book one but I felt in a MUCH lesser manner.  I found this book more enjoyable for that reason because it seemed to actually attempt to hold a storyline.

This book also (like book 1) just ends.  You go to turn the page but it's over.  It's somewhat frustrating.  I have not purchased the third book because I have numerous other books on my to read list but I will say, I enjoyed this book more than the first and for those of you who thought there was "too much porn" or whatnot in the first, this one is much quieter in that aspect without withdrawing it.  It's definitely not as erotic or kinky or crazy as the first one.

You learn more about the mysterious Christian Grey in this book and that was a fun change of pace as I am not one to go in search of sex books but prefer a book with a good story to keep me entertained.

E.L. James - Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

READ SYNOPSIS BEFORE BUYING!!!

I saw that this book was getting a lot of publicity and numerous friends had read it in an addictive fast manner so I decided to buy it without even seeing what it was about.  I did read the free sample but it doesn't really get into what this book entails.

This book is about a college grad but more than that it is a book about sex.  It's definitely X rated and completely erotic.  I almost stopped reading it because I was in such shock when I got to that point of the book but I'd spent money on it and finished it through.  The book just ends and you go to turn the page and there's nothing there.  (Same with the sequel)...

I enjoyed the book but it is not for the faint at heart.  It is for those with a completely open mind.  And should be read in private.  I was at the gym reading when I got to the first sex scene but after that the entire book is nothing but different sexual positions, innuendos, toys, etc.  This is by far the most graphic book I've read regarding sex.

Only read this if you have an open mind and know what the book is about ahead of time.  I wish someone had told me.  I did like it though and found it to be a quick read.

Insurgent - Veronica Roth

I'll just start off with this review is just stating the obvious, Veronica Roth knows how to write an amazing and addictive read with an amazing plot and things no one would normally even think about.  It's easily my favorite read or tied with Pandemonium so far for 2012 and I've read 42 books...

Insurgent (Divergent, #2)Insurgent by Veronica Roth

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow...

Divergent drew me in right away and this book starts off exactly where the other one ended. Insurgent is the much anticipated sequel to Divergent and I will say that in my excitement I devoured the book. The plot thickened and become intense. The entire book was action packed with things unimaginable. Veronica Roth is a writing genius.

Your favorite characters that made it through Divergent are back. Four and Tris, Caleb, Christina, Uriah, Peter, even Edward. There are many surprises as well. The plot thickens and twists. Enemies are allies and allies are enemies in this book and you don't know who you can trust anymore. The story is about the factions falling apart to a war against themselves.

The end opens up a lot of answers and leaves you with more questions and excitement. I believe it will be an incredibly long wait to see how everything plays out and all I can picture in my head is the ending. You will have to read it to see what happens... But I want to throw a WOW, AMAZING, and OMG in there.

Also, Tris is more amazing than ever and her character growth is remarkable. Tobias as well. It was really an amazing read. Any fan of Divergent will devour this book.

Eden - Jamie McGuire (Final Book in the Providence Series)

I read this book quickly as I was so excited to read Insurgent and Black Dawn but will say I was not disappointed...  Great addition and ending to Nina & Jared's love story...

Eden (Providence, #3)Eden by Jamie McGuire

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So I was excited when I saw that Nina & Jared's final story was out.  The cover is beautiful with the baby stroller.  The story contained all that I wanted and more, I was hoping to see more of Bex and Claire and I did.  I love Bex and would really enjoy reading a series of his life.  :)

There was action from beginning to end.  The action was well written and I'd have to say out of the 3 books in the series they've progressively gotten better.  This was by far my favorite.  Nina really grew into herself as a person and Jared was completely swoon-worthy.

Ryan and Claire had me laughing.  There was humor in the book which I enjoyed.  I like a book that can keep me entertained, is written well, and contains humor, action, and romance.  This book did everything I wanted.  I've grown to love the Ryel family and hope that Jamie McGuire does another series (preferably about Bex)...  ;)

Great job, fantastic ending!

Oh did I mention, it was written so well I read this in 1 day?  Yep.

Spellcastser - Cara Lynn Schultz

I cannot wait for tomorrow, in the meantime I'll be reading Eden by Jamie McGuire, it is the final book in the Providence series and I will admit Jared Ryel may have come off as stalker-ish in beginning but he is swoon worthy.  :)  Here goes...

Spellcaster (Spellbound, #2)Spellcaster by Cara Lynn Shultz

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Finally finished this book, I started it over a month ago and have read several books in between... here's my review of Spellcaster:

I bought this book automatically knowing I enjoyed the 1st one and I was reading something else at the time.  I held this one off for awhile.  Then I remembered, in Spellbound Emma and Brendan got their happily ever after.  They broke the curse.  So I was thinking, why a sequel?  Why did I buy this?

Okay, so I would rate this a 3.5, it's a good follow up, it shows Emma and Brendan had more trouble ahead.  I don't see a need for the book but it's a fun read.  The first 4-5 chapters are slow and then the story picks up.  I read those over weeks in between other books and then read from Chapter 6 on in one day.

The storyline is good, Kristen is back and mean as ever.  There's a surprise as to who the villain is.  Also some surprises with Emma.  The humor is easily just as good for an adult as a young adult.  I found myself laughing a lot at the conversations between Emma and Cisco, Jenn, Brendan, Kristen, and Angelique.  There's also a lot of funny commentary.  It ends with a good epilogue and I would think that this would and should be the last book in the series.  Let's just let Brendan and Emma be happy.

Cara Lyn Schultz is an excellent author and I'll be excited to see what she brings to the table next with new characters.

Pandemonium - Lauren Oliver

Holy crap wow that was a good one!  Now what to read?  Tuesday I have Insurgent by Veronica Roth and Black Dawn by Rachel Caine on my to-read list...  I just need to find something short and appeasing to last me until Tuesday after which I will be out of sight until done with both books!!!

Pandemonium (Delirium, #2)Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thought this book was much better than Delirium (which I rated a 4), it had me from the beginning and was engaging, a real page turner...  Wow!!!

So wow, I pretty much knew from all of the other reviews how this book would end and still... wow.  I liked Delirium but Pandemonium was even better.  In fact, amazing.  I was instantly drawn to Julian as was Lena.

Lena gets answers on many things, including her mother.  The book goes back and forth from when she was rescued to now.  Each chapter goes back and forth titled Now, and Then...  It is easy to follow and necessary in order to understand who Lena has become now that she is an Invalid.

Lena spends a lot of time trying to forget Alex, and Hana.  Julian is an amazing add in character and so are all of the people in the Wilds.  I found this to be my favorite read so far this year.

There are twists, shocks, deliria, and more...  Plenty of action.  I am in love with this author, this book way oversteps the last and hopefully the third will be even more amazing if possible.

Delirium - Lauren Oliver

Delirium (Delirium, #1)Delirium by Lauren Oliver

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I cringed, I laughed, I swooned, and I cried.

This is a dystopian but it doesn't seem TOO far into the future. I agree with other reviewers, if you are expecting Hunger Games don't read this. If you want to read a love story about a place in the future where love is considered a disease that kills you, READ THIS. :D

The writing seemed somewhat current, they have cell phones and text, go to college, eat fish sticks, typical stuff. So I think it was written as near future. There writing flowed well and was written in a beautiful style. I'd compare the writing style to that of Lauren Kate.

The story is of Lena who is going to be cured from love on her 18th birthday and then paired with a mate. She has a best friend who was a great add in character named Hana and of course, finds a love interest in the handsome Alex. Whenever I hear the word Autumn I will think of him.

The ending was bittersweet and sad but in the kindle version you get a long free sample of the next book which starts off amazing so I'm really excited to start on it. I'd rate this between 3.5-4 Stars. Well executed, the action was good, I cringed, I laughed, I swooned, and I cried.

Divergent - Veronica Roth

So this book was amazing, good thing the sequel comes out in just a couple of weeks!  I am thinking of reading Shadows from the Lux series.  :D  I want to read about Dawson!  Not sure what else is in my queue.  I think over 90 books! This book was not in my queue I was just starting to get tired of the paranormal and needed something different and refreshing.  Which Veronica Roth brought in Divergent!

Divergent (Divergent, #1)Divergent by Veronica Roth

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So I wasn't sure what to expect when picking up this book, I typically read YA Paranormals but have been kind of looking for something new.  I decided after reading Hunger Games to try another dystopian book.  This one had really good reviews so here is mine:

I really liked Beatrice "Tris" our protagonist.  The heroine of the story.  She is 16 and must choose one of 5 factions to live in.  She is from Abnegation which is the "selfless" faction.  Each faction stands for something different.

The story is told so well and vividly.  For being over 500 pages I read it in about a day and a half, I couldn't stop reading.  It was beautiful and easy to follow.  The writing was done so well, I winced with pain when I read certain parts as if it were actually happening to me.  I couldn't stand some of the characters, in fact the characters were all written so well.  I felt that I knew the looks Beatrice's mother, father, and brother gave her because of the descriptions.  Her friends were fantastically written too.  I can picture all of them and there were even some characters I wanted to punch in the face.

My favorite characters were Christina, Tris' mom, and Four.

Speaking of Four...  he is swoon worthy.  There is a love story in this book but it doesn't distract from the main points and it doesn't take over the story.  There is a fantastic plot line and I am so excited to read the sequel in May.

Taken At Dusk - CC Hunter - Shadow Falls

I really am debating why I rated the book so high.  I'm just completely disappointed in parts of it when I'd been looking forward to it for SO long...

Well here it is for all my fans of Shadow Falls:

Taken at Dusk (Shadow Falls, #3)Taken at Dusk by C.C. Hunter

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I rated this high because I like the series it deserves about a 3.5.  This book entertained me.  I read it quickly like all of the others.  I've even read the Novella.  I loved the relationship between Holiday and Kylie in this book.  The love triangle got more intense.  I don't even know who I'm rooting for anymore.  Both Derek and Lucas are so different and CC Hunter writes one up in one book and then the other in the next.  You just don't know who to love.

Miranda and Perry are finally working it out in this one which made me happy.  There's a new character named Ellie.  There isn't much more to add, Lucas and Derek, Holiday, Burnett, even Red and Mario make appearances.  There was a few twists with the "bad guys" and I liked that.

Here's what I didn't like, I mean really hated, I almost rated it a 3...  The ending.  Here it is, I had no idea this wasn't the last book.  I'm thrilled that it's not I love the kids at Shadow Falls but seriously, the ending was like Deja Vu to the ending of the last book in this series.  That really had me disappointed, I would've liked an original ending.

Yes Kylie got some answers, but the ending still, besides that, is an exact replica of the ending of the last book.  Meeting her grandparents, questioning her identity, etc...

Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins - Hunger Games Trilogy

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm not sure why the reviews are so low.  I found this to be a very realistic ending to the trilogy.  The revolution happened, the rebels fought the capitol.  That's the story of this book.  We have our Mockingjay...

I loved this story, it's just as sad and brutal as the others but with a happy ending in my opinion.  That's my entire review because I don't want to give anything away and here's something I never do, but I am retaliating against complaints I've been reading in reviews:

Spoilers... the bad reviews have a couple of major complaints... Gale's maybe being involved in making the bomb that killed the children and Prim, and Katniss ending unhappily married to Peeta.

My ideas on those two issues, Gale and Katniss worked it out in her own way of acceptance and Gale chose the "fancy job" in district 2.  He chose not to go back to 12.  Peeta chose to go back to 12 and wanted to be with Katniss, and there's acceptance there too.  She admitted to knowing all along he was what she needed, they went through their own therapy, had children and coped the best they could.  Nothing in there said she was a zombie or unhappy, she loved her kids and knowing they wouldn't compete in any Hunger Games.  It said, she wasn't sure how she felt until she held her child.  As a mother, I get that.

Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins - Hunger Games Trilogy #2

I'm finishing Mockingjay today I hope because tomorrow Taken At Dusk book 3 in the Shadow Falls series by CC Hunter comes out!!!

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Action, Killing, Plot Twists, Addictive Read, what more do you want in a sequel? Sequels tend to fall short of their predecessors but I found this one to be a compelling quick read.  Yes you don't get to know all the tributes that well but we didn't know all of them in the first Hunger Games.  The ones you do get to know are easily remembered.  There's plenty of action and plot twists to really keep you flipping pages.  I was so shocked by the ending that I had to buy three and start it the same night.  It was a fantastic read with lots of surprises.  People who expect happiness and roses should not have read this trilogy to begin with.  The complaints seem to be the same about this book and yet I find the majority of people rate it 3-5.  This is not a series for people who want a happy ending which I admit I typically do, until reading these, I've grown to expect sadness and death.  These things are typical of dystopian novels.

Excellent addition to the series.  I read this faster than either of the other books.  It was fast paced and entertaining.

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

Well I'm always one to read what has become a "social phenomenon" so here it is (also I think they stayed true to the book in the movie and I think many complaints come from people who haven't read it as recently as I, the girl I saw it with said she read it when it came out):
The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read this after the movie came out...

I tried to read this book once before...  and I didn't like it, I wasn't interested in dystopian novels and I didn't like that all the characters had such bizarre names.  So I closed the book and let it go.  When the movie came out and was a huge success I decided I wanted to read it and see the movie, I read about 6 chapters before going to the movie and the writing was really good, after seeing the movie I went home to finish the book.  It did not disappoint.  In fact it had me buying book 2 immediately after and now I'm halfway through it.

There isn't much to add to other reviews because everything has been said.  Reading the book at the same time as watching the movie I think they did an excellent adaptation of the story and Suzanne Collins has a beautiful style of writing even when it's something as sad and serious as The Hunger Games. What a creative idea.  This book is just so full of imagination and you can tell she put so much into writing it.  Definitely a 5 star and it's no wonder she's the next big thing in book and media headlines!

Untouched - Novella - Jus Accardo

This review will be short and sweet just like the Novella, I'm currently reading Spellcaster the sequel to Spellbound and The Hunger Games... I started The Hunger Games when I knew I was going to the movie but the movie was really good and so is the writing so I am taking a break from Spellcaster to finish The Hunger Games just because, Spellbound by Cara Lynn Shultz had a happy ending and I wasn't sure why they even made a sequel...
:
Untouched (Denazen, #1.5)Untouched by Jus Accardo

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What can I say, I'm a sucker for Kale!

As other reviewers pointed out, this is a short Novella.  This happens between book 1 & 2 and comes from Kale's POV (point of view).  Kale has always intrigued me and having a Novella written from his point of view was fantastic.  It's cute to see how innocent he really is to all things that normal people are accustomed to.  In this Novella Kale and Dez are in search of Sixes to warn them of Denazen and help them to sanctuary.  They find a girl named Kiernan and go to an amusement park to get to know her as she's nervous of running away with them.  At the amusement park Kale has to face his biggest fear, the "nightmare man" or in other words, the man who made Kale the way he is.  The man who really helped mold him into a killer.  And Samsen's skill is extremely unique and can make Kale weak.

I wont give it away.  This was well written and I'm anxiously waiting for Toxic!!!  :D  I loved how Kale's love for Dez was so apparent and when he thinks of his "favorite thing" to do with Dez, it was so innocent that I blushed.  Jus Accardo is an amazing author.

Haunting Emma - Surrender - Lee Nichols

I have not even a clue what I'm going to be reading next.  I have a copy of Hunting Lila and I already started Betrayed from the Guardian Legacy but those are both hard copies and I am really preferring the versatility of my kindle, I can even bring it to the gym.

So I'm going to go through some of the samples I sent to myself and try to find another good series to read.  Or just a good book would be nice.

Here's my review for Haunting Emma book 3, Surrender, by Lee Nichols:
Surrender  (Haunting Emma, #3)Surrender by Lee Nichols

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So I really enjoyed this Saga for the most part, Lee Nichols is good at developing characters.  In this book I really grew to like Natalie and Lukas even more as well as Coby, Sara, & Harry.  Craven and Moorehead were involved as always and there was a lot more action in this book.

Obviously since this was the end of the trilogy we had to deal with Bennett's drug problems, his parents, Emma's parents, killing Neos, Natalie & Lukas' budding relationship, and every other problem in between.  This was the book that sews up all the openings left in the plot and story from the first two books. It ties up all of the loose ends.

I found myself really liking Bennett's dad.  He was a great character, Simon wasn't in the book much which was kind of sad, I was angry with Bennett throughout the story but towards the end I changed my mind about him.  Max was actively involved in this story.  It was nice to see the brother/sister relationship.  Emma's parents were in this novel with multiple appearances.

I was only left with one real question after reading this book, what did Natalie end up deciding about Lukas?  Their feelings were strong but that part was left unfinished to me.  She and Emma needed to fight together but she also loved Lukas.  I'm not sure if things changed after the big finale between the two of them or not.  Either way this was an ending I was satisfied with and I will really miss Coby, Emma, Harry, Sara, Natalie, & Lukas.  Even Craven and Moorehead.  :)  I hope to find another series that I enjoy the characters as much as in this one.  They truly cared for each other and it was such a nice diversion from the typical mean girl type books full of love triangles.  :D

Haunting Emma - Betrayal - Lee Nichols

I started book 3 this morning, which is titled Surrender and it has a good start to it.  I'm hoping it will rock the series back to the way it started in book 1!  :D  Then afterwards I have no idea what I'll do, some exciting news, Lisa DesRochers 3rd installment in the Personal Demons series comes out 6 weeks from yesterday and I am so excited to see what happens with Luke & Frannie!!!  Now to find books to read for the next 6 weeks, guess I'll start going down my queue on Goodreads...

Betrayal (Haunting Emma, #2)Betrayal by Lee Nichols

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So the hardest book in a series is always book 2.  I read book 1 in a day, book 2 I read in 4 days.  It wasn't as entertaining and I've been trying to decide between 3-4 stars so I'd say a solid 3.5.  I do like this series, I really love Emma and Natalie.  The characters are great, Coby's ghost was in this one a lot and I really like Coby as well as the jocks who taunt Emma.

There's a little bit of humor for older teens/young adults.  In this book Emma is set to fix things with Harry and Sara who have lost it since Coby's death, fight off Neos, and be with Bennett.  All of which go terribly wrong.

I like that the same characters are back, there are surprises, you get to meet Emma's family, there is a traitor among them.  The book definitely has enough to capture your enjoyment but at the end they didn't accomplish much.  The huge action scene only rid us of a tiny problem, hence having a 3rd book.

I can't be in love with Bennett when he's never around so I don't feel that connection with those two...  I wish I did.  I know she's attracted to him but that's all the depth I've really seen.

I do believe book 3 will be better than book 2.  I've found in almost all sagas book number 2 never lives up to the first but typically book 3 throws us back into why we loved the series to begin with.  I'm excited to start book number 3.  I hope there's more action with the Rake whom I've grown fond of as well as Coby.  :D

Haunting Emma - Deception - Lee Nichols

I was perusing the books trying to find something to read and sent myself samples of about 6 books, this was the first sample I started and what can I say, I really liked Emma... so now I'm going in to read the series!

Deception (Haunting Emma, #1)Deception by Lee Nichols

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So I wasn't sure what to expect, I just saw this and sent myself the free kindle sample and immediately liked Emma's spunky personality.  She was really fun to get to know.  Before I knew it, I brought the book with me everywhere (I bought it yesterday, finished it last night), I read while I was at the gym, I read while cooking dinner, and I finished it up around midnight.  I took very few breaks.  It was a real attention grabber from the get go.

It may not be super original but I'm really starting to like ghost stories and this one is turning out really good.  I liked Emma, I like the other characters.  I'm actually disappointed that a couple of them died.  And best of all, this book has actual laugh out loud moments.  I started laughing while riding the bike at the gym because of something Emma said to one of the other characters.  Who doesn't enjoy a book that makes you happy, sad, and grabs your attention?

It is a really easy, quick, light read.  I have already started book 2.  And plan on reading book 3 as well.  I am really enjoying my time with Emma Vaille.

My Soul To Steal, If I Die, & Never to Sleep - Soul Screamers - Rachel Vincent

I read the entire Soul Screamers to date in the last couple of days...  I'm excited and sad at the same time.  The next book is due out in June which is coming up fast, however; after reading Rachel Vincent's blog I also found out that one of the main characters dies.  :(  So that's horrible... here are my reviews of the books in the series...

My Soul to Steal (Soul Screamers, #4)My Soul to Steal by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sabine is introduced in the Novella Reaper and she is Nash's "ex" who is back in town to get him back.  She is a great "love to hate" chick.  Rachel Vincent did an amazing job making her really a nightmare and Kaylee grew a bit of a backbone trying to keep her hold on Nash.  Kaylee is unsure if she even wants Nash after all he's done to hurt her so there's a lot of emotional turmoil in this book!

I truly liked Sabine's character, I liked how much I didn't like her.  I started being even more into Tod than I already am after how much he does for Kaylee while she needs him and he's just always there for her.

This book was really good as are the rest in the series what can I say?  I'm hooked on the Soul Screamers...

If I Die (Soul Screamers, #5)If I Die by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I would give this book 4 stars but what can I say, I'm in love with Tod and there was a lot of Tod in this book!  So, here we go... Kaylee finds out she has a death date.  And there are no second chances to trade, her life was already exchanged for her moms when she was a baby so she has no choice but to just die... but before she does she wants to:

Kill the new incubus math teacher that is impregnating teenage girls...

In order to do this her and Sabine work together as well as Emma.  Sabine becomes so much more tolerable in this book!  I really enjoyed her character.  There's quite a bit of sexual content in this book even though there is no actual sex besides the pregnant teenage girls.  Just an FYI to anyone out there.  I hear there's quite a bit of it in the next book too....

So Kaylee spends her numbered days trying to right her wrongs and get rid of the incubus.  After that, she has a lot of realizations about Nash, Sabine, and Tod.

Tod is really there for Kaylee during this book since he's faced down death and the connection between them is just unreal.  He also does a lot of things for her without wanting her to know.  He's just an all around great guy.  This book also has some relapses and a few surprises.  I think this is so far my favorite book!  I do love Tod... :D

Never to Sleep (Soul Screamers, #5.5)Never to Sleep by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So this is a short Novella to add to the Soul Screamers series as it slowly comes to an end.  It takes place during Kaylee's last day in "If I Die" and is about Sophie and a necromancer named Luca.

All that we learn is that Sophie is definitely not entirely human.  (I really want to know what she is and how she can cross into the Nether by herself and who is this Luca???) And also I read Rachel Vincent's blog and found out something big... One of our main characters is going to die in book 6... :(

Rachel Vincent - My Soul To Keep & Reaper (Novella to book 4)

I'm really getting into the Soul Screamers series and am sad because there is only 1 book left until book 6 comes out later this year.  I read book 3 and 3.5 over the last couple of days and stayed up extremely late reading about half of book 4 last night.  Which I WILL finish today because it's so good.  I am glad I cheated and read the excerpt for book 6 because it sounds like things are going to switch to Team  Tod in book 5... the one I am hoping to start tonight...  :P  I like Tod hence why I read and reviewed his Novella Reaper below my review for book 3 My Soul To Keep...

My Soul to Keep (Soul Screamers, #3)My Soul to Keep by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So I started this book wary after book 2 fell short of my expectations.  This book brought them back and beyond.  This book was written so well and just the pure creativity in the storyline had me hooked and deserves 5 stars.

Kaylee and all of our other favorite characters are back and a few of them are hooked on "Frost" or Demons Breath which we learned about at the end of book 2.  This book was really truly great.  The ending was bittersweet but the best part is since it's a series, that doesn't matter we can go on and find out more...  I followed this book with Reaper the Novella about Tod and then book 4 because that's the order of the series.

The hellion Avari is back with a vengeance in this one.  You will be shocked at what happens, who is hooked on frost, and how far Avari will take things to get to Kaylee.  Yay, 5 Stars!!!

It was so good I stayed up last night and read Reaper and half of book 4.

Reaper (Soul Screamers, #3.5)Reaper by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This Novella was as good or better than her prequel Novella, it was completely worth the money.  I read it in a half hour or so and loved it.  It showed about Tod and his life before reaping, also you find out about how Tod died and became a reaper.  I found it absolutely stunning to find out what really happened to Tod, this isn't something you want to miss if you are a fan of the series.  Awesome book!!!  :)

Soul Screamers Volume 1 & My Soul To Save - Rachel Vincent

I originally purchased Soul Screamers volume 1 because it contained the prequel novella along with books 1 & 2 from the Soul Screamers series for a very low price.  I had been doing individual reviews for each book so I have a short excerpt for the Soul Screamers volume 1 and then below will be my review of book 2 My Soul To Save...

I also plan on reading My Soul To Keep next, which is book 3 in this series.

Soul Screamers Vol. 1 : My Soul to Lose • My Soul to Take • My Soul to SaveSoul Screamers Vol. 1 : My Soul to Lose • My Soul to Take • My Soul to Save by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm not going to include much because I wrote individual reviews for each book in this book on their respected pages.  But I will say if interested in this series, this is the way to go for the price.  You get the prequel novella and books 1 & 2 all for the price of one book.  :)

I bought this due to the fact you get the prequel novella, book 1 and book 2 all in one.  I must admit, the prequel novella My Soul To Lose really captured my attention.  Book 1 My Soul To Take was nearly as good, and book 2 My Soul To Save was maybe so/so.  It wasn't as good as the first two in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the main character Kaylee and her boyfriend Nash.  I love Kaylee's best friend Emma and that Kaylee has a conscience but only to an extent.  She doesn't really care if she's going to get grounded or if someone dies in lieu of someone she cares for in most instances.  She kind of does her own thing and everyone else puts up with it.

I like Nash's mom and I can't decide how I feel about Tod I'm excited to read his Novella which is to be read before book 4 I believe.

These books really help you get to know the characters and the storyline, I will continue reading the series hoping that book 3, My Soul To Keep is better than book 2.  Book 2 wasn't that bad but sometimes the second book in a series is just not quite as good as the first.  It's happened in many series.

Try the free sample for kindle if you have one, either way, you can't beat this deal the price is amazing for what you are getting and the books are full and the writing is solid.  The characters all have depth and I think that there is a lot of potential here.  I'm excited to see what happens next.

:)  4 Stars!

My Soul to Save (Soul Screamers, #2)My Soul to Save by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So I really enjoyed the prequel and book 1.  This book failed to keep me as entertained as the others I've read so far.  However, this book was still written extremely well.  You get to know Nash's mom Harmony better and get to see a father/daughter relationship between Kaylee and her dad.

There is a lot more sexual tension and references in this book than in the others.  It appears that this might come up in the upcoming books.  I did enjoy this book, I just wasn't sure how I felt about the characters that Kaylee was trying to save.  In the first book she was coming into herself, saved her best friend, etc... This book was about a girl who sold her soul to become rich and famous and Kaylee wanted to save her from dying for Tod's sake.

I did like Addison and I sympathized with her.  I still give the book 4 stars because of how well Rachel Vincent's writing is.  I just wasn't as pleased or entertained as I was in the previous book.  I am purchasing the next book now and hope that it is better...  :)

The Savage Grace - Bree Despain

Wish I'd read this before Spell Bound, this book was an amazing ending to a trilogy.  I will be continuing with the Soul Screamers series now.  I would like to say though, if you have not read The Dark Divine series I highly recommend it!  It's absolutely fantastic!  :)

The Savage Grace (The Dark Divine, #3)The Savage Grace by Bree Despain

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

BRAVO BREE Despain!!!

Two books came out on the same day that I'd been anticipating for 2012, I chose to read the other one first.  It turned out to not be nearly as good as this one.  This book was amazing, I read it in a little over a day.  So this book starts off about one week after the last book ended.  Grace is trying to figure out how to turn Daniel back to Daniel before she loses him to the white wolf.  And it's making her inner wolf an angry and bitter person...

I love Gabriel in this one, and I loved the "lost boys" the ones who followed Daniel when he turned Alpha at the end of book 2.  Grace decided she was their Wendy (Peter Pan) and they were her lost boys.  They stayed around Grace like babysitters and all of their fun and unique personalities really shined.  There was a lot of sad and traumatic events in this book, there were HUGE plot twists throughout, and an ending I didn't suspect.  I don't want to give anything away.  There is love in this, there is loss, this was a truly fantastic ending to a trilogy I just wished that all of the bad guys had been caught in the end, however; I do believe that what is left is nothing that Daniel and Grace can't fight through together.  Grace's parents, sisters, April, and her parents all returned for this book as well as Caleb, Talbot, and many others.

I think this is the book I really fell in love with Daniel, I also loved Jude.  He seemed to be more like the Jude from the beginning of book one.  Amazing job Bree DeSpain, I did ask her and she does have another book she is writing I'm unsure if it's a series or what but it is due for publication next fall and I will definitely be in line to read it!  I'm so sad to see this trilogy come to an end and cannot wait for more books from this talented author!

Spell Bound - Hex Hall Series - Rachel Hawkins

I paused my Soul Screamers series because 2 books I've been waiting for came out today!!!  So I read one really fast... (Spell Bound the end of the Hex Hall series) and plan on reading the other one tomorrow...

So I don't put spoilers on my reviews on Amazon or Goodreads and I will try not to here either but I want to say I am SO mad at what Rachel Hawkins did to my favorite character in this entire series...  Ugh, I wanted to scream WHY at her!!!!  Okay...  Here's my review:

Spell Bound (Hex Hall, #3)Spell Bound by Rachel Hawkins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So here's the deal... I refuse to give spoilers away but I am SHOCKED at what Miss Rachel Hawkins did with this book!!!  Let's go back, I stayed up til 1 AM reading this.  I'm now writing the review while it's fresh in my mind.  I am disappointed but this book is an excellent ending to the saga.  All of our favorite characters are back plus new ones so you have Cal, Archer, Sophie, her parents, Jenna, Elodie, the Casnoff sisters and their demons, etc... Some new characters include the Brannick family (Aislinn, Finley, Izzy, and a surprise too).

What I loved, Jenna & Sophie's friendship.  Cal's love and devotion for Sophie.  I honestly just LOVE Cal and could never understand why Sophie was so devoted to Archer.  I will tell you that the love triangle ends with the saga.  You will have a definitive answer on who Sophie ends up with.

Another thing I really enjoyed was that Elodie went into Sophie's body many times to help as well as mess around and I found the comedic humor in Sophie's head and the arguing between the two girls to be quite funny and I really grew to like Elodie's character.  I also believe she may find love, even in the ghost world.

I really liked Izzy, the 14 year old Brannick sister.  As well as the man in the mirror, I believe his name was Torin.  :)

The book begins EXACTLY where it left off.  Sophie has just woken up out of the Itineris and has no idea where she is.  She has no powers and she must work with her loved ones to stop the Casnoff sisters from turning every student at Hecate (Hex Hall) into demons.  I think the most emotional part of the story is when they literally go into the underworld or "hell" and you see devastating moments from the past and future.  This is where I want to give you the spoiler, but I cannot and will not you have to read the book for yourself to see what happens.

:)  4 Stars for being a good end to the saga.  I would have given it a 5 had there been a few changes to the ending.  I did hear a rumor of a spinoff of this series and I'm guessing it would be Izzy's story?  I can't think of any other character who would have a spinoff.  I do hope this is true and cannot wait to read the next book published by Rachel Hawkins.

And just for you Rachel Hawkins... WHY DID YOU DO THAT??????????????????????

Soul Screamers - My Soul To Take - Rachel Vincent

I can tell this series is going to be amazing and I only wished I'd found it sooner!!!!  Awesome awesome book!  I hope to be done with book 2 before Tuesday when the ones I've been waiting for come out... But there's also 6 in this series as well as some Novellas!!!  Next up book 2 My Soul To Save...

My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1)My Soul to Take by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm SOOOOOOO glad the book was as good as the Novella prequel!!!  Yay!!!

I started by reading My Soul To Lose which is a prequel to the series, it's a very short Novella and it got me hooked.  This book was completely different than anything I've read and I've read some crazy stuff lately.  This book is about Kaylee who screams when someone near her is about to die.  This is quite a mystery and no one knows why it happens, her family tells her she's insane.  (I highly recommend reading the prequel Novella first.)  The action starts pretty quick and Kaylee and her best friend sneak into a club and Kaylee sees the shadow and feels the scream building in her throat and of course this is happening RIGHT in front of her crush Nash Hudson.

So Kaylee, her amazing best friend Emma, and Nash calm her down and keep her from losing it and take her home.  She doesn't scream.  In the morning she sees the girl died on the news.  Then there are numerous girls dying, just dropping dead for no reason.  One each day.  Nash and Kaylee begin dating and working on solving the mysteries together.  Nash helps Kaylee discover who she is.

There's plenty of romance, I really liked Nash and his mom, Emma was the most amazing and understanding best friend, Kaylee's Aunt was a real character and her uncle I immediately liked.  Kaylee also has a not so nice cousin named Sophie.  She lives with them ever since her mom died when she was really young.  I even liked Tod (you'll meet him too)...

At the end of this story all of your questions are answered, mysteries are exposed, and best of all, the story goes on and there are actually quite a few books in the series I believe as well as Novellas, I will be starting book 2 today.  This was a really great start to a series and I'm excited to see what happens throughout Kaylee's young life!

5 Stars, had me hooked and I stayed up real late finishing it!

Soul Screamers Series - My Soul To Lose .5 - Rachel Vincent

I haven't forgotten about you I've been busy!  Not reading much :(  But I finally found a series I like right when 2 books I want to read are coming out.

Next week in fact The Savage Grace: A Dark Divine Novel by Bree DeSpain comes out.  I believe it's the last in the trilogy!!!

The 3rd book in the Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins comes out next week as well.  This one is called Spellbound.

I'm really excited about both of these and of course now I just started a series so I have to read through it quickly so I can get to the books I've been waiting for!!!

SO, I started the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent I have only read My Soul To Lose which is the first novella, .5 in the series.  I'm reading book 1 now, they had an amazing deal on Kindle for My Soul To Lose, My Soul To Take, and My Soul To Save all in one book called Soul Screamers Volume 1.  It was only $5.99 on Kindle which is much cheaper than buying all 3 separate.

Here's my review of My Soul To Lose:
My Soul to Lose (Soul Screamers, #0.5)My Soul to Lose by Rachel Vincent

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an amazing hook for the series, it is an extremely short Novella that leads you into book 1.  Right now Amazon Kindle even has a special where you can get this along with the first 2 books in the series at an amazing price.  :)  We start off with Kaylee going to the mall with her best friend and then having a "panic attack" which happens when she sees shadows and knows someone near her is going to die.  The "attacks" cause her to scream the loudest most insane horrifying scream imaginable.  This lands her in a psych ward for teens.

It ends with her being sent home to live her life and go back to school which is where book 1 starts.  This is probably the best Novella intro for a series I've ever read.  I knew after reading this I wanted to read the series.  Really good!

Amy Lignor - Until Next Time

So I've been busy, I lost an expensive contact which really upsets me.  I got in a car accident with my brand new car (this morning) and have been fighting on and off with my husband.  The only things going right are reading, school, and writing my book.  My best friend is supposed to be helping edit it but she's extremely busy so it's not getting done very quickly.

I'm not sure what to read next, I have Everneath by Claudia Gray which was free for Kindle.  I also have a couple of others that look okay.  I haven't made up my mind 100% yet.  I'll have something chosen by tonight though.

Anyways I just read a book called Until Next Time and to say the least, I'm most disappointed in the cover.  The book was written with grace and beauty and the cover doesn't live up to the class of the book in my opinion.  Also, I found the book to be so in depth that it was extremely confusing and I had to reread many parts to fully understand what was going on (and I'm not sure I even do)... BUT I still really want to read the sequel, now time for my review:

Until Next Time (The Angel Chronicles, #1)Until Next Time by Amy  Lignor

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the hardest review I've ever had to write.  I didn't quite fully grasp the entire book so it's hard to review.  I kept going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars.  What ultimately made up my mind is that this book is written with such beauty it's just amazing.  The cover in my opinion does not match the book in any way whatsoever.  In fact the cover would lead you to believe you are reading something much different and more dark than this story.

So anyways, the story is told in a style that's very confusing at first and I had to reread several paragraphs throughout the book and even the ending to fully grasp the story.  I'm not sure if it was just the way it was written but I read other reviews that summarize the story and if you read those it will help to explain any confusion you may have.

The writing style is amazing, the way she puts you in heaven with the saints is absolutely stunning.  I loved the saints and archangels descriptions and the card games for candy bars, etc.  The way she chose to have many common sayings of today be things the saints said such as "Stop and smell the roses" and hoping the sayings would catch on someday in earth.  The parts of the story that were written in heaven were beautiful.  The parts of the story on earth were just as good and the descriptions were full of depth.  You felt there with the characters.  Martha, Anthony, Charles, Jason, Liz, Faith, and even Charles' parents and sister all had depth to them and you really got to know them.

I really enjoyed the characters of Faith and Liz the most.  I felt I didn't get to know Matt well enough I'm not sure if there was supposed to be a love triangle or not because she always made it clear Matt was her soulmate but she loved Jason?  I am still so confused on Matt and what is supposed to be going on with him.  You never really get to know Matt and hopefully book 2 will touch up on him.  I love books based in the past, so this was a real joy to read.  I thought it confusing that Emily/Liz are the same as well as Daniel/Matt.  I'm so beyond confused by the whole situation and the ending of this book that I'm actually looking forward to the next one to help clarify things for me that were unresolved.

Even reading this review you can tell how confused I am.  It's a good read but it's just so full of depth it takes a lot to grasp in comparison to the fluff I've read lately.  :)
