Grave Mercy by R.L. LaFevers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book is 565 pages! With that much book typically there's a lot of fluff and filler, I did get somewhat bored around 40% into the book and skimmed a bit but not too much, the beginning and the last half of this book are remarkable. There's not a lot of filler, it's all scenery, action, descriptions, narrative, etc. There's a lot going on.
The book is about Ismae who is one of death's daughters and goes to a convent of assassin nuns after an unfortunate arranged marriage. She is trained in the arts of death and poisons as well as seduction and current events. She goes on missions to kill people and ultimately gets an undercover job for the duchess. Her love interest is Gavriel Duval (this book isn't a romance) and he's quite charming.
This is a historical book and I like most timepieces. This one didn't disappoint there was a lot going on and the plot was unique and original, very refreshing. I do look forward to reading the next one which is about Sybella and I hope the injured knight in need is Beast.
