Misbehaving - Abbi Glines - Sea Breeze

Misbehaving (Sea Breeze, #6)Misbehaving by Abbi Glines

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Okay this review is hard for me, I devoured this book!  But I have to say it's because I LOVED Jess.  Abbi Glines needs more 'bad girl' books.  The reason this is hard for me is because I liked Jason in all previous books but in this book...he fell short.  I liked him in the first chapter and thought WOW this has real promise... Then I really didn't care for him at all until the last couple chapters.  And he redeemed himself.  I expected more from you Jason!!!  Jason gets a 2.5 in my eyes but Jess gets a 5 so I am giving a high review.  I ADORED Jess, I always wanted to know more about her in the other books and this felt right.  Her character was well developed and exceeded my expectations!  Kudos to you Miss Glines but honestly I feel Jess deserved a better man... the heart wants what it wants though and I respect her decision to be with Jason and as I said, he did redeem himself in the end...

Sometimes It Lasts - Abbi Glines - Sea Breeze

Sometimes It Lasts (Sea Breeze, #5)Sometimes It Lasts by Abbi Glines

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sometimes it lasts... The sequel to Cage & Eva's story.  To be honest I liked this one even more than While It Lasts.  I absolutely loved the bond that Cage grew with Eva.  It was a really beautiful story to read and I connected to them on a deeper level in this book.  It was also great reading about the rest of the Sea Breeze crew, I just really wish there was a story for Jeremy, I've grown quite fond of the man he is as well....

If you love Sea Breeze and you thought Cage and Eva's story was over, think again, you will love Sometimes It Lasts.  Now I'm eager to start Misbehaving!  :)  I'm in an Abbi Glines zone right now!

Just For Now - Abbi Glines

Just for Now (Sea Breeze, #4)Just for Now by Abbi Glines

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really like Just For Now.  I would put this as my #2 after Breathe so far in the Sea Breeze series.  I liked Preston, I understand why he did what did.  I fell in love with his siblings.  Those parts were what really sold me on the book, they were the real highlights.  Brent, Jimmy, and Daisy held my heart.  It was nice seeing bits of Sadie/Jax, Marcus/Low, and Cage/Eva.  I don't have a lot to say about this book, it was good, it was sexy, and fulfilled my craving for some easy light reading...

While It Lasts - Abbi Glines - Sea Breeze

While It Lasts (Sea Breeze, #3)While It Lasts by Abbi Glines

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I've really enjoyed my journey into Sea Breeze so far!  My favorite was Breathe followed by Because of Low.  I did enjoy While It Lasts wanting to see into Cage York's mind.  Unfortunately we didn't really see any of the "bad boy" he was in the previous book!  However, I really enjoyed reading his transformation story into a man who can love one woman.  Eva was a good heroine and her story was different which I enjoyed.  Yee-haw!

This book is MUCH steamier than the first two!  I am old enough to appreciate that!

I rated this a 3.5*

Because of Low - Abbi Glines

Because of Low (Sea Breeze, #2)Because of Low by Abbi Glines

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm a huge fan of HEA or feel good books!  Just to throw that out there before my review... I don't like crying ugly tears when reading a book because I want to go to my happy place!

I finally decided to hop on the Sea Breeze train as I love Abbi Glines and have read several of her other books.  What I really enjoyed was the storyline.  I loved the plot and story, there was more to it than easy affection and instant love.  There was depth to the story.  I definitely figured out the twist early and was so excited to see how it would play out.  I really liked Marcus in Breathe and was happy he got his own story in Because of Low, I wasn't sure if anyone could compare to my love for Sadie White but Low was a really great contender for Marcus's heart.  She was real, she had issues, and I love how Abbi Glines writes her characters in a way that enhances their flaws and show us that they are not perfect.

This was a quick, light, easy read and I really enjoyed it.  I also loved little Larissa!  I've already started While it Lasts and am eager to read about Mr. Cage York!

Hexed - Michelle Krys

Hexed (Hexed, #1)Hexed by Michelle Krys

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this ARC from NetGalley only 48 hours ago and I am already finished.  I really love YA paranormal but have grown tired of the same vampire/werewolf themes and was excited to read a witch story since I haven't read any since Hex Hall!

Indigo Blackwood is the young heroine and I thought her character was really fun, realistic, she was not mature for her age, you could tell she was a teenager by the way she acted in several situations which made it believable.  Indigo is a cheerleader, dating the football quarterback, and avoiding her annoying next door neighbor so she doesn't wreck her social status at the beginning of the book. Her character really grows by the end and I loved that, she didn't start off as a hardcore badass out to save the world.  I really felt for Indigo!  There's a little romance, some snarky attitudes, high school drama, BFF bonding, tough situations, good times, bad times, action, evil sorcerers, witches and a warlock in leather... the book had a lot going on and the only thing I really felt was missing was more information, more explanations, more history, etc.  However, the epilogue intrigued me and I will tune in for the next book!

By the end of the book, I was doing a happy dance, it was a great new series that I could really see teenagers and adults alike enjoying!

Killing Ruby Rose - Jessie Humphries

Killing Ruby RoseKilling Ruby Rose by Jessie Humphries

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

UGH....
This is how I wanted to feel reading this book:

This is how I felt reading this book:

  shocked gif photo: Shocked shocked.gif

I did enjoy some of this book, which makes it hard to rate, so I'm going with a straight 3. I knew this was YA. I enjoy YA. I loved the idea of the plot, Ruby was interesting most of the time when she wasn't busy making ridiculous decisions. The plot twists were really well thought out. If you enjoy an action packed story about a 17 year old hardcore heroine and can get over the crazy unrealistic storyline, then this book will be a quick and fun read. However, I had some problems as well:

So I struggle with how to rate this book, it held my attention for the first 50% for sure but then the other the top descriptive, and odd wording was just too much at points, there were so many commas in sentences, and over explanations as to why Ruby felt how she did... I wrote down some samples while reading...

"So why couldn’t I decide if I was relieved or disappointed? Excited or terrified? Appreciative or angry? Despite my growing catalogue of concerns, Liam was relentless about the dance. Even after I explained my aversion to underage binge drinking, awkward group dates, and cheesy picture stances, he still insisted that we go. All day at school, he went out of his way to make me smile, laugh, and forget. My answer went from a firm no, to a definite maybe, and then after his speech about being normal and going on our first real date, my answer turned into a hesitant yes."

  wtf gif photo: WTF?! guyintie.gif

Some shorter ones without the entire paragraph include:
"Her eyes were vibrant but soft at the same time."
"You had me crazy, and constantly worried."
"He was totally hot, yet sensitive."
"Tasting him, breathing him, feeling him, wanting him."
"As we danced, whispered, and touched."
"Valedictorian contender or death penalty candidate? Founder of the Constitution Society or vigilante lawbreaker? Protector and defender or vengeful killer?"
"It was a thank you, an apology, and a desperate hope for the best."

All of these were within a few pages of each other and the entire narrative is like this throughout the entire story. The descriptions, adjectives, adverbs, explanations, etc. were just so much, too explanatory, It was over the top for me. I love a good description and some great narrative but these constant, drawn out sentences were ridiculous and too much.

Sweet Reckoning - Wendy Higgins

Sweet Reckoning (The Sweet Trilogy, #3)Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So I love the Sweet books, I practically devour them as soon as they are released.  This was a really great ending to the trilogy.  I agree with others, it started off a bit slow and I expected a bit more "action" even in the end.  But with that said, I understand the pacing of the book and LOVED seeing how Wendy Higgins tied up all of the stories as anyone who has read them knows, all of the secondary characters are so well written that you feel a connection to all of them!

I will miss Kope, Z, Marna, Ginger, Blake, Belial, Jay, my sweet Patti, and of course Anna and Kai!  I don't want to give anything away but this book was incredibly sweet and romantic, there were times I cheered, gushed, squealed, and even had goosebumps!  And for those who are fans of romance will not be disappointed by the amazing epilogue...

I was incredibly happy with the ending, I love the Dukes in a "bad" way and thought the last 20% of the book was by far the best!  I can't wait to see what Wendy Higgins brings us next!

The Price of A Kiss - Forbidden Men 1 - Linda Kage

Price of a Kiss (Forbidden Men, #1)Price of a Kiss by Linda Kage

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Here's how I felt reading this book:

quinn crying photo: Quinn crying tumblr_m9ddd0GofM1qcirt8.gif

There was real potential, I thought how cool, a male gigolo and a damaged college student!  I must read this!!!  But the college student talked as if she was 12-13 max.  Her personality was obnoxious at best. Some of the lines from the book were ridiculous.

Here's the good, I enjoyed the first 80% of the book, after that point I started skimming the pages until I was finished.  Mason's little sister Sarah was the saving grace for me, I really enjoyed reading about Reece's interaction with her.  Some parts of Mason and Reece's relationship were cute.  Some were ridiculous.  Mason's mom was awful, Mrs. Garrison was a good villain.  I don't know I'm so mixed on this.

I keep going back and forth, and I give this book 2.5 stars, if you have something you are more eager to read, read that first.  All in all this is a forgettable book.  And if I never hear the word gigolo again I'll be okay as it was said 5000+ times in this novel.  I realize I am in the minority here with this review and I wish the story delivered as much as I had hoped it would.

Breathe - Abbi Glines - Sea Breeze #1

Everyone knows I'm a huge Abbi Glines fan and I decided to try out the Sea Breeze series...

Breathe (Sea Breeze, #1)Breathe by Abbi Glines

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jax Stone for book boyfriend anyone!!??

So the first thing I noticed about this book that I devoured, was how real Sadie White appeared. She was down to earth, caring, compassionate, and everything you want in a heroine. She's a good girl and mature beyond her years.  I felt empathy towards her situation. Sadie is in high school with a pregnant mother who wouldn't work, so Sadie works in her mothers place. Anyways I love Jax Stone and I loved the relationship between these two.

If you want something that is an easy, quick, carefree, HEA read, then check this out! I was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down... Just a feel good book.

Bound - Brenda Rothert

For a limited time get this book FREE for Kindle!

Bound (Fire on Ice, #1)Bound by Brenda Rothert

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I've been looking for a 5 star book for awhile now and all I can say is that this book will completely captivate you from the first page.  By the end of the first chapter I was emotionally invested in both of the main characters.  I started reading this around midnight, just to read a chapter or two before bed, and stayed up most of the night to finish....

So this book will take you on an emotional roller coaster.  Both Kate and Ryke meet while facing their own personal tragedies during a grief support group.  I absolutely loved that this wasn't a "love at first sight" book and the two characters became close friends and took their relationship slow, both facing their personal demons before pursuing a romantic relationship.

Both characters are damaged and they grow so much from the beginning to end... Just an incredible page turner... I'm yawning and need to catch a few hours of shut eye so I 100% recommend this book, I love Jason Ryker, and just WOW!

Erased - Jennifer Rush

Erased (Altered, #2)Erased by Jennifer Rush

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So I love the Altered series...  This book was incredibly fast paced and there was nonstop action!  What did I love about this book?  Anna and the boys are on the run and you get to see glimpses of them without the farmhouse setting, there are flashbacks, stolen cars, and fights in almost every chapter.  We get to meet and get to know Dani, Anna's sister and of course we learn about Anna's past and how she came to be a part of the Altered program.

I love the boys and the action was intense.  There's always danger lurking at every corner!  I will say, that I love Nick way more than I even like Sam.  To me, Sam is not right for Anna and we never really get to see his personality or lack thereof.  And after reading this book I guarantee you'll be on team Nick because he is just INCREDIBLE!

It's a great story, I've heard there is another one coming out but honestly she tied up all the loose ends really well in Erased and I don't see much of a need for a third book however I will read it as Jennifer Rush knows how to write in a way that just captures your attention from the start.  Awesome read!!!

Altered - Jennifer Rush

This is a PAGE TURNER!!!

Altered (Altered, #1)Altered by Jennifer Rush

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a quick read about conspiracies! I bought Altered because the synopsis sounded amazing, four hot guys who had been Altered by a secret branch and living in a lab in the middle of nowhere under a farmhouse! Sounds pretty good right!? Then you meet Anna the daughter of the man who works in the lab and lives in the farmhouse. She helps in the lab and works in the lab! As the synopsis says, the boys escape the lab and take Anna with them at the insistence of her father! Anna has no idea why he would make her go.... And this is where the excitement begins!

This book is a real page turner, I read it in a couple of days, it's not very long... There's twists and turns and truths unhidden at each turn! This is a great suspense/thriller type of book for the YA (or me, older than the YA) genre... There's lots of man candy, action, plot twists, and a very small amount of innocent romance. To summarize this book has a bit of everything and is an excellent read! I can't wait to start Erased today!
