Whispers in the Dark by Chase J Jackson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I love paranormal. I devour it. There was a great idea behind this book and it is unique in it's storyline but I felt Mr. Ramirez and his friends and Lea were very YA, they felt more like high schoolers than adults. I think the story would have been better suited for a YA audience with the main character being either Raven or Robin. (That would have been a 5 star book for me, I love YA and I think Raven and Robin would've made better "lead" characters). Mr. Ramirez seemed really juvenile by ignoring his girlfriend to go out getting hammered with his friends all the time when she really moved from Miami to Georgia for him and asked him to spend more time with her. The story was incredibly rushed as well and I found that I read it easily in a very short amount of time. I would've appreciated more depth and details as it was incredibly basic.
The book got better around the 85% mark. The twists were really intense and I enjoyed the surprises. I feel this book would really benefit from being just slightly longer and more detailed. I read it in about 2 hours.
I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
